Kramer VP-413

The Kramer VP-413 is a very small (a bit larger than a pack of smokes) video scaler. It take a Composite or S-Video signal and outputs it at one of four fixed computer resolutions (VGA, SVGA, XGA and WXGA). Got to see it at INFOCOMM and had to get a couple for the AAtronics rental stock to play with. I so bought two! We have these available for rent for a mere $25.00 per day.

Mistakes, failures and other show stoppers

Last week, during the critical "STORM TRACKER 7000 Update" local weather guru, Rick Lantz (second from left) was bedeviled by a Lavalier microphone that kept cutting out.

These guys do multiple shows a day, with some of the top broadcast professionals of the Northwest, yet a simple dying battery was bringing the show down.

Like the pros they are, soon an arm appeared in frame bearing another mic and our noble weatherman casually clipped the new unit on.

Point is, even those of us who work with this stuff everyday, electronics do occasionally fail us. So we prepare for the worst and do our best to have back-ups (as the crack channel 7 team did).

Hit 40 this weekend :-(

But the high point was my lovely wife getting me an iPod Nano. I spent most of the weekend cramming my old Napster stuff and a load of CD's into the thing and it's only 2/3 full!!!

The software is a bit of a challenge since my last Apple was a IIc in college (the eighties... o.k. the EARLY eighties). But now I can play hundreds of tunes in my car (Honda Element comes with an 3.5mm Jack!) and my office. I cannot put into works how cool this gadget is.

Now if I can figure out how to get the album art on it, I will be stylin'!

To: InFocus Valued Partners in the United States

This morning InFocus, working in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall to repair a confined number of InFocus LP120 projectors, ASK Proxima M1 projectors and the SP-LAMP-013 replacement lamp module for these projector models.

InFocus is recalling these products to protect users from potential shock or fire hazard due to inadequately insulated lamp wiring which could degrade over time. To date, no incidents or injuries have been reported or linked to the affected products.

The affected units are confined to the following serial numbers or date ranges:
InFocus LP120’s with serial numbers ranging from: AJNV541A0001 to AJNV551A0301 which were manufactured between October 2005 and January 2006.

ASK Proxima M1’s with serial numbers ranging from AKUV546A0001 to AKUV547A0268 which were manufactured between October 2005 and January 2006.

The replacement lamp modules do not carry a serial number designation. The affected units were built and sold between November, 2005 and January 2006.

If you have existing inventory of any of these products please contact InFocus directly at 1-877-398-6086 to make arrangements to return the unit for immediate repair. End user customers with any questions should be instructed to call this number or go to www.infocus.com/service to return product.

We will be contacting those end customers that we know have purchased affected products and for which we have contact information to make arrangements for return and repair.

We have ample supply of new LP120’s, M1’s and SP-LAMP-013’s which are not impacted by this issue and are available for purchase and delivery. Please contact your InFocus inside sales manager for any questions regarding product availability.
